Upcoming Boxing Match – Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton VS Manny "The Pacman" Pacquiao

First of all let me say, I’m no expert in the field of boxing – but I do enjoy the big professional fights like most others. The thing about the Hatton / Pacquiao fight though, is that my wife is a Filipina and Hatton is, not only British like me but, from my birth city Manchester. Having had the fortunate chance to visit the Philippines where I saw Manny Pacquiao fight Moralez live in a cinema – I am torn in loyalty. Manny Pacquiao is the spirit of a whole nation, the cinema I was in was overcrowded and every time Pacquiao knocked Moralez down the crowd burst into thorough joy – I seemed to be the only person sitting. When Pacquiao fights there is a zero crime rate. Even the Military and Rebels call a truce to watch the fight.

As for Ricky Hatton, although he has nothing like the same fan base as Manny Paquiao – It is fair to say he is the most popular British boxer in the sport. The first time I saw Hatton fight was against Mayweather, where Hatton was a massive underdog. I actually put a wager on Hatton due to his impressive record, and cos he is British! Despite losing my bet I was satisfied with the attempt Ricky made as he showed lot’s of heart and gave 100% effort.

Now Hatton and Pacquiao go head to head. Two rising stars, in my history of boxing, and both in their prime. Both Hatton and Pacquiao have impressive records and a wealth of experience. It is a very tough fight to call. Pacquiao has plenty of pace but will it work against the technique of Hatton?

Manny Paquiao is favourite with the bookmakers but not on the scale as Mayweather was when he took on Ricky Hatton.

Personally I think it will go the whole 12 rounds, unless there is a nasty clash of heads or some other controversial event.
